2019 U.S. U-24 National Teams Announced

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Jan. 7, 2019) – USA Ultimate, the national governing for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is excited to announce the athletes who will represent the U.S. at the World Flying Disc Federation’s 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships.

More than 550 athletes applied to be considered for the three U.S. National Teams – men’s, mixed and women’s – that will compete in Heidelberg, Germany, in July. Tryout invitations were extended to 100 men and 100 women, and of those 200 athletes, 74 were named to the 2019 National Team rosters.

The teams include 15 returners who each won gold at the 2018 World U-24 Ultimate Championships in Perth, Australia. In addition to U-24 golds, 17 athletes also have World Junior Ultimate Championships gold, 20 have won College Championships titles, and five have earned National Championships titles. Three athletes were part of gold-medal-winning teams at the World Ultimate Club Championships last summer.

Invitations to join the U-24 National Team are extended just as the majority of the athletes are preparing for the 2019 college season, which runs from January through May, with the D-I College Championships held over Memorial Day Weekend.

Following the conclusion of the 2019 college season, the members of the U-24 National Team will hold a training camp in mid-June before traveling to Germany for a week-long training camp in the lead-up to the World Championships. The 2019 World Under-24 Ultimate Championships will take place July 13-20, in Heidelberg, Germany.
