Forty-eight athletes named to Team USA for Beach Worlds

Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 8, 2021)—USA Ultimate announced today 48 athletes that were selected to represent the United States at the 2022 WFDF World Beach Ultimate Championships next spring in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Following a pair of tryouts last month, 16 players were chosen for each of the mixed, open and women’s divisions from a pool of 160 tryout attendees. Eschewing the previous method of allowing team managers to select squads from a list of applicants, it was the first time USA Ultimate hosted a tryout for the now quadrennial event.

Scheduled for April 2-9, the 2022 edition in Southern California also marks the first time the tournament will occur on U.S. soil after previously being held in France (2017), United Arab Emirates (2015) and Italy (2011).

USA Ultimate will also field teams in four other divisions – mixed, open and women’s masters and open grand masters – which will be announced at a later date along with confirmation of the final Team USA delegation.
