Colorado Springs, Colo. (April 13, 2022)—USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee, announced today the 48 athletes that were selected to represent Team USA at the 2022 WFDF World Junior Ultimate Championships this summer.
Following a pair of tryouts last winter that were attended by more than 200 of the nation’s top U-20 players, rosters were trimmed to 24 players in each of the men’s and women’s divisions.
The 2022 edition takes place August 6-13 in Wroclaw, Poland and marks the return of the biennial event after the 2020 championships were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both the men’s and women’s squads enter the tournament as defending world champions after capturing a pair of gold medals in 2018.
The men’s team was assembled by head coach Reid Koss and assistants Cody Mills, Andy Nielsen, Tulsa Douglas and Christie Lawry. The women’s team was chosen by head coach DeAnna Ball and assistants Jason Adams, Manisha Daryani, Amelia Cuarenta, Elizabeth Jones and AnnaMaria Pape.
