USA Ultimate Names U.S. National Team for 2020 WFDF World Ultimate & Guts Championships

Colorado Springs, Colo. (March 11, 2020) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee, is excited to announce the athletes who will represent the United States this summer at the 2020 WFDF World Ultimate and Guts Championships (WUGC).

More than 600 elite athletes applied to be considered for the three U.S. National Teams – men’s, mixed and women’s – that will compete in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, July 11-18. Tryout invitations were extended to 104 men and 104 women, and of those 208 athletes, 72 were named to the 2020 National Team rosters.

The teams include 29 returners who won gold at the 2016 World Championships in London.

The 2020 WUGC is the 15th edition of the tournament which dates back to 1983. Since its inception, the United States has won 41 medals: 30 gold, six silver and five bronze. It is estimated that this year’s incarnation will host a record number 120 teams and 3,000 participants from more than 50 nations.
