Colorado Springs, Colo. (December 23, 2020)—USA Ultimate members elected Isaiah Bryant, Ernest Toney and Robyn Fennig to the USA Ultimate Board of Directors, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States confirmed today.
After a two-week election, Bryant and Toney were elected to the two available at-large seats by USA Ultimate’s general membership. Bryant received 346 votes, while Toney received 342. DeAnna Ball finished third in the at-large race with 318 votes.
Fennig, the current board president and incumbent, ran unopposed and was reelected by her peers to the elite athlete seat. All three will serve terms that begin on January 1, 2021 and expire on December 31, 2023.
Bryant and Toney will fill the vacancies left by outgoing at-large members Tyler Kinley and Josh Seamon, whose terms expire on December 31, 2020.
Lisa Bliss, whose term also expires next week, leaves open an independent seat which will be filled by the board in the coming weeks.
“Thank you to everyone who participated in this year’s board election,” commented Fennig. “This year we had many great candidates to choose from, and I am thankful both to the candidates who ran and the members who voted. Congratulations to the incoming board members, and I look forward to serving with you.”
“Our board discussed whether we could open voting to people who were members during 2019, but not 2020. But since our bylaws are clear that only current members are allowed to vote for at-large positions, we would have violated Colorado non-profit law if we opened the election up to folks without a current membership. We will discuss the impacts of COVID-19 on our election this year and ways we can address financial hardships for voting in future elections.”
“Finally, I also want to sincerely thank our outgoing board members, Tyler Kinley, Josh Seamon and Lisa Bliss, for their selfless and meaningful contributions to the board.”
