Colorado Springs, Colo. (May 26, 2021) – As the return of consistent youth ultimate activity and competition across the country grows near, USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States and member of the U.S. Olympic Committee, is excited to announce the addition of three new affiliate organizations: Center Grove Ultimate Club (CGUC), Mercer County Ultimate Disc League (MCUDL) and San Antonio Ultimate Community (SAUC). This brings USAU’s total number of affiliates to 31!
Center Grove Ultimate Club, added late last year, serves local students and other youth in Greenwood, Ind., just outside of Indianapolis. Their mission is to provide an all-inclusive sports opportunity for students in the Center Grove School Corporation and help them develop high athletic ability, leadership and life skills through the sport of ultimate.
CGUC currently offers seasonal programs for youth in grades six through 12, and their top-ranked boys’ high school program recently took first place at the Indiana Ultimate Foundation (IUF) High School Invite.
Mercer County Ultimate Disc League was founded in 1977 and fosters the sport of ultimate by providing opportunities to learn, play and teach spirited ultimate in and around the Trenton, N.J. area. Joining us in early 2021, MCUDL runs three outdoor leagues in the summer and, when there’s enough participants, indoor leagues during the fall, winter and early spring. They also run an annual hat tournament every December known as Mercer Midnight Madness.
Outside of ultimate, MCUDL also gives out an annual scholarship award of at least $500 to rising college freshmen. In 2020, they awarded $800 to a member of their community who is now attending Cornell University.
Lastly, San Antonio Ultimate Community also became recognized as an affiliate in 2021. Their purpose is to grow ultimate in their local community through supporting leafs, pick-up, club teams and youth development.
This spring, SAUC will be sanctioning their six-week, 7v7 spring league with USA Ultimate for the very first time!
