Love at First Flight
With an emphasis on kids ages 7-15, USA Ultimate’s Learn to Play program works with local disc sports organizations to introduce and teach ultimate to the next generation of players. Instructional clinics are designed to be flexible and accessible while offering a fun and engaging experience to beginners. The program also connects kids and their families to local playing opportunities and the ultimate community in their area.
3 Ways to Learn to Play
Learn to Play kits provide new ultimate programs and youth-serving organizations like the YMCA, Boys & Girls Clubs and other similar groups the tools they need to introduce ultimate to their kids. Each kit contains:
- 10 Discraft discs
- Learn to Play clinic guide
- Cones
- Posters & stickers
Learn to Play clinics help local disc organizations introduce and teach ultimate in their area. A series of up to six clinics are then linked directly to additional local youth playing opportunities. Resources include:
- Learn to Play clinic guide
- Registration and administrative support
Learn to Compete leagues are the final piece of the program, connecting skills to fun competition. Local disc organizations and USA Ultimate work with other local partners like parks and recreation or youth-serving organizations to offer weekly playing opportunities. Resources include:
- 20 Discraft discs, pinnies and cones
- Learn to Play league curriculum and format
- Marketing and operating support
- Registration and administrative support
