To ensure that the 2022 peer pools align with peak playing years (2002-2010), new members are added and those whose careers ended before 2001 are removed (unless there are compelling reasons to remain.). Those remaining may include coaches, administrators, reporters/media, or players who remained connected to the sport and have first-hand knowledge of top players. Peer pool members identify and vote on nominees to help narrow down the final slate of Hall of Fame candidates.
