Become a Member

You can access coach education and certification with any current USA Ultimate membership.

Agree to the USA Ultimate Coaching Code of Ethics.

Agree to the USA Ultimate Spirit of Coaching.

This philosophy describes the role of a coach as it relates to ultimate’s Spirit of the Game ethos and the athletes’ role in the on-field officiating process.

Pass a Criminal Background Check.

USA Ultimate’s unwavering commitment to athlete safety mandates a background check for all coaches through the National Center for Safety Initiatives (NCSI). These must be renewed every two years.

Complete Online SafeSport Training.

This critical training is designed to help safeguard athletes from bullying, harassment, hazing, physical and emotional abuse, and sexual abuse and misconduct. SafeSport training is valid for one year with refresher courses required annually.

Complete Online Concussion Training.

As part of their responsibility to keep athletes safe and healthy, coaches are taught how to recognize concussions and provided with a protocol in the event of a suspected concussion.

Watch Online Video Resources.

Review four, short online training videos covering ethics, professionalism, liability and Spirit of the Game.

Pass a Brief Coaching and Rules Test.

Take a quick test about basic rules knowledge and the instructional videos.
