Colorado Springs, Colo. (March 27, 2019) – USA Ultimate, the national governing body for the sport of ultimate in the United States, announced today that Reid Koss will return as the head coach of the U-20 Men’s National Team for the 2020 cycle. DeAnna Ball was named the women’s head coach last month.

Koss led the U-20 Men’s National Team to an undefeated record and the gold medal at the World Junior Ultimate Championships in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada last August. Koss was named to the head coach position after Sam O’Brien, who was initially selected as the team’s head coach, had to step down.

Because Koss was originally chosen as an assistant coach and did not go through the head coach application process, the USA Ultimate coach selection panel opted to open the 2020 head coach position for other applicants. Following the application and interview process, the panel elected to officially offer the position to Koss.

“We are thrilled to have Reid back as the U-20 Men’s National Team head coach,” said Dan Raabe, USA Ultimate’s manager of youth and education programs and head of the coach selection panel. “He did a great job with the team last year and created a really positive, successful team culture. The athletes loved playing for him, and I am confident the same will be true for the 2020 team.”

With the head coaching positions now filled, assistant coach applications for the 2020 U-20 National Teams are now open. Interested coaches should submit applications by Wednesday, April 17.

The World Flying Disc Federation’s 2020 World Junior Ultimate Championships will be held July 18-25, in Malmö, Sweden.
