March 2, 2020 (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Ultimate is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Michael Cannon, Kevin “Sass” Coulter and Drew Piet, who died in an automobile accident Saturday evening in Orange Township, Mich.

Cannon, 24, of Harbor Springs, Mich.; Coulter, 29, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and Piet, 28, also of Grand Rapids, Mich., were USA Ultimate members and active participants in the club division. Cannon played college ultimate at Central Michigan before moving on to compete in the mixed club division in 2016 and 2017 with Michigan teams Toast and Mishigami, respectively. Coulter played at Northern Arizona University and has since competed in the men’s club division with Michigan High Five before competing with Fort Collins shame. in the mixed division, a team he helped to qualify for the semifinals at last year’s National Championships. Piet competed in the men’s and mixed club divisions with Phoenix-based teams Rubix and Sprawl; he played with Midwestern Mediocrity from Grand Rapids in the 2019 Triple Crown Tour.
