Colorado Springs, Colo. (August 7, 2024)—USA Ultimate announced today six head coaches that will lead the U.S. National Team at a pair of WFDF World Championship events next year while simultaneously opening the application process for their assistants.

The 2025 WFDF World Under-24 World Championships will take place June 21-28 in Logroño, Spain with Bob Krier (open), Patrick Sherlock (mixed) and Gwen Ambler (women) at the helm for Team USA.

Returning for his sixth consecutive appointment as head coach for the men’s division, Krier has led Team USA to five straight world titles in the U-24 ranks, amassing an unblemished 48-0 record over the course of the last decade while leading his teams to victory in 2013, 2015, 2018, 2019 and 2023.

Sherlock also returns to the team after leading Team USA to a perfect 9-0 record en route to a gold medal at the 2023 U-24 World Championships last summer (where the team also concluded the tournament atop the spirit standings.) A veteran of USA Ultimate’s National Team program, Sherlock also served on the coaching staff as an assistant in 2019, helping guide Team USA to a gold medal in the mixed division at U-24 Worlds. Sherlock was named USA Ultimate’s College Coach of the Year in 2019 and has also coached Philadelphia AMP to a pair of club national titles in the mixed division in 2018 and 2019.

A recent inductee to the Ultimate Hall of Fame’s Class of 2021, Ambler recently joined the Team USA coaching ranks and is currently serving as an assistant coach for the mixed team that will represent the United States at the WFDF World Ultimate Championships later this month in Australia.

Next year will also see the WFDF World Beach Ultimate Championships take place November 2-8 in Algarve, Portugal where Bryan Jones (open), Eileen Murray (Mixed) and Samantha Broaddus (women) will lead Team USA as head coaches.

Jones previously served as head coach of the men’s team in 2017 and 2023, leading both teams to an undefeated record and a gold medal.

Next fall will mark Murray’s return to the sidelines for Team USA after leading the mixed team to a gold medal in 2017.

Broaddus also returns for another appointment after leading the women’s team to a gold medal at the most recent edition of the tournament in 2023.

All totaled, the six head coaches named today have previously led Team USA to a combined 102-2 record and 10 world titles as head coaches.

The naming of head coaches by USA Ultimate also formally begins the process of searching for their assistants. Applications are currently being accepted for both assistant coaches and selection assistants for U-24 and Beach Worlds, as well as the team that will represent the United States at the 2025 IWGA World Games in Chengdu, China next August. Matty Tsang was announced as the team’s head coach in 2021.
