Colorado Springs, Colo. (January 15, 2020)—USA Ultimate announced today the appointment of Benecia Newhouse to its board of directors. Newhouse joins recently elected members, Isaiah Bryant, Robyn Fennig and Ernest Toney in the 2021-23 class.

Newhouse currently serves as the Director for State Farm Advancing Financial Well-Being at the Marketing Arm, a Dallas-based marketing and creative agency, where she currently develops and executes experiential events to deliver financial resources targeted to African American women and general market families.

“I am very honored and excited to be selected to fulfill USA Ultimate’s independent board position,” said Newhouse. “I look forward to working with the board to grow the sport on a local, national and global level.”

Prior to her work at the Marketing Arm, Newhouse spent eight years at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) in Colorado Springs as its manager of marketing and event services. In that role, she created hospitality programs for USOPC constituents, including the USA House Business & Hospitality Center, the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame, U.S. Olympic Media Summits and U.S. Olympic Assemblies. She also developed strategic marketing platforms and events for USOPC corporate partners Johnson & Johnson, The Hartford and 24-Hour Fitness.

Newhouse continued her work in the Olympic arena when first arriving the Marketing Arm, developing marketing strategies and programs for AT&T’s Olympic campaigns and serving as the day-to-day agency contact for sponsored properties, including the USOPC and several high-profile national governing bodies such as USA Gymnastics, USA Swimming, USA Soccer and U.S. Figure Skating.

A native of Houston, Newhouse received a bachelor’s degree in sport management, economics and managerial studies from Rice University and an MBA from Texas Woman’s University.

“Benecia brings a wealth of professional experience in the world of sport with event planning and marketing,” commented USA Ultimate Board of Directors President Robyn Fennig. “We feel confident that she will immediately be able to plug into many of our board-level committees.”

As one of three independent members of the board, Newhouse was appointed by an 11-0-1 vote. Her term runs through December 31, 2023.
