Colorado Springs, Colo. (August 20, 2021)—The application process to be part of the U.S. National Team for the 2022 WFDF World Beach Ultimate Championships (WBUC) is now open. The quadrennial event is scheduled for April 2-9 in Huntington Beach, Calif. after being postponed from its original spot on the calendar this fall.

Depending on the level of interest, WFDF is set to host up to 12 divisions – a mixed, open and women’s division, plus nine additional age-restricted categories for the same three gender divisions: masters, grand masters, and great grand masters.

USA Ultimate members interested in applying for consideration to represent the United States at WBUC should review the application procedures and complete the online application by Friday, Sept. 3.

In a new selection process beginning with this cycle, USA Ultimate will hold tryouts for the elite-level mixed, open and women’s divisions. John Groess (mixed), Bryan Jones (open) and Samantha Broaddus (women’s) were appointed U.S. National Team coaches last spring and will choose players following a pair of tryouts later this fall.

A west coast tryout will occur November 6-7, followed by one on the east coast November 13-14.

Up to nine other teams will be selected by team managers named by USA Ultimate as part of this application process.
